Primary research methods for NMNTV

In order to figure out what locations and studio set ups are used in music channel television we can research by watching a show from other music channel such as MTV or BBC. We can then analyse the videos and where to film our location for a show on a music channel. An advantage of this would be that the work so it is based on our own detail and therefore we can understand it more easily. However a disadvantage could be that its at our own bias. Another research method could be to send surveys to selected consumers of  Music television. 

We can ask questions such as what location we should film, what their favourite place to go on holiday is (for the set up in the studio for locations we cannot go) and where they would like to see us. The advantages of this method would be that it is straight from the source and from our audience meaning we will get a clear and knowledgeable understanding of what locations we should be using in filming on set. The disadvantages of this would be that it is not detailed information as it is just short questions. Another disadvantage is that people who are sent the survey may not compete it, even if we send them via email people would just leave it in junk male.

 Finally we can interview a producer on a previously existing music television channel and ask him various question to do with set design and locations for filming. An advantage about this is that they have first hand experience on set at a music channel show. So we can ask him deep question about setting and the set up of a studio. A disadvantage of this is that the interviewee could be biased and answer question without proper thinking due to him being put on the spot. 

Secondary research methods for NMNTV

For secondary research methods you could look at a music magazine like XXL or Rolling Stones, looking at the background or reading different articles in the magazine to figure out where the hottest places for news articles and research are. An advantage of this would be that it is a representation of how to make a magazine and which locations to pick. But a disadvantage of this would be the age of the magazine and how that effects our research and the information that is given to us. 

Watching a documentary on music tv channels would be a great secondary method of research as It is a detailed piece of media that presents information to the audience that is easy to understand. It also offers first hand information from producers who worked on previous music channels. However a disadvantage of this would be that sometimes, documentaries are no created with data research and therefore require some investigative skill. An example would be the documentary called "I want my MTV" this could help us understand how the music tv channel MTV produces its products.

It goes through things such as: Mise-en-scene, pre production and the specifics about the production of a music tv channel. An advantage of this would be that it is quite new as is was published four years ago. But it could be biased towards a certain production method.  

through using these methods I can deduce that the best possible locations for NMNTV to film a show would be: 

1. one possible location would be Hollywood or LA, my reasoning is that there are a lot of celebrities in these region and also we could get news on different events happening in LA. E.g the Grammys. One example of this would be a clip from MTV news about Travis Scott and his mansion in LA.

2. Another location could be the urbanized city of London as its in England which is where NMN Tv is based, plus a lot of  celebrity action and events happen here as well. Many music channels such as BBc and the Box are based in London as well  

3. Ibiza was shown as a location in the show Ex on the beach which is a show on MTV. This would be a great location as it is full of parties and music festivals. It is also a beautiful place with lots of beaches and clubs. 

4. New York city has many advantages as more new styles of music such as drill are appearing in there, this would make New york a hot spot for music news and for the appearance of new artists.  

5. Country sides such as Suffolk is a quiet and very beautiful for the background of a music channel tv show.
