Andrew Godwin's book about music video theory that can be used to research about it.

-Advantages would be that it goes deeply into music video conventions and pop culture.

-The disadvantages would be that it was made over 20 years ago so in some aspects it may be dated. its also expensive.

An in detail blog about music channel conventions and what is needed for a music channel. 

Advantages-would be that it is a detailed source that has links and examples for you.

Disadvantages-As it is made by anyone that can create an account we cannot tell if its true or reliable. 

3.)interviews with MTV (or different music channels) producers.

Advantages-existing tv channel workers with direct personnel information about content and conventions.

Disadvantages-pre-existing interviews could very well be biased.
