KTA 5 Researching sources about location and studio set up for NMNTV

Primary research methods for NMNTV In order to figure out what locations and studio set ups are used in music channel television we can research by watching a show from other music channel such as MTV or BBC. We can then analyse the videos and where to film our location for a show on a music channel. An advantage of this would be that the work so it is based on our own detail and therefore we can understand it more easily. However a disadvantage could be that its at our own bias. Another research method could be to send surveys to selected consumers of  Music television.  We can ask questions such as what location we should film, what their favourite place to go on holiday is (for the set up in the studio for locations we cannot go) and where they would like to see us. The advantages of this method would be that it is straight from the source and from our audience meaning we will get a clear and knowledgeable understanding of what locations we should be using in filming on set...

The extract I am analysing is about an LGBT+  activist and he shows three points as to why you should become an ally to the LGBT community and help the activists. The video appeals to its target audience through its colours which use a lot of feminine colours. This relates to the the femininity of gay culture and also is used to keep the attention of the young teens that this is also target to as it is a video that sets out to teach the viewers about the homophobia still present in the modern day. So it would need to keep the younger viewers interested and to focus their attention on the video. This is also shown through a scene in which two people talk and they focus is sent straight to both of the peoples mouths. This helps understand that the subject the presenter is talking about now is about communication and voicing your concerns while it al so keeps the attention of the younger audience with the quack zoom in and split focus.  The target audience of the video consists m...

Task 5 Primary Sources

An interview with an expert such as Allen Goodman or Dave Pullano who were  tv producers, writers and directors who worked for MTV. This is useful as they work within this sector and know from personal use how to work on a music channel  Hard to reach or access as they are busy Textual analyse where u watch a show and look at its conventions writing down and analysing it yourself. your own work in which you watch the programme and do it yourself. Music tv audience giving them a question are to ask them what sort of content they would prefer on music tv channels  easy and cheap as it can be done on social media.  however you don't know if the people you target watch your content or not. you'd need to make a focus group of actual fans.

task 4 three secondary sources

1.)https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dancing-Distraction-Factory-Television-Popular/dp/0816620636 Andrew Godwin's book about music video theory that can be used to research about it. -Advantages would be that it goes deeply into music video conventions and pop culture. -The disadvantages would be that it was made over 20 years ago so in some aspects it may be dated. its also expensive. 2.)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_television An in detail blog about music channel conventions and what is needed for a music channel.  Advantages-would be that it is a detailed source that has links and examples for you. Such as how the backdrops for the scary movies section was a cartoonish haunted house. Opening premieres for shows and movies.  Iconography-Very colourful shapes and also hyper editing with polaroid images to appeal to a young audience.  Colour-Pink is mainly a girls colour and the mainstream audience for MTV are mostly young women so it attracts them more. KTA7:Cataloguing and organising research

The National Archives offers many historical events in an organized and 21 century look. The website is a digital content provider that holds information on historical events from the past 1000 years. It offers blogs, videos and links to other websites that can all be used for information gathering. Accessing the information is as quick as clicking a button, this will then give you pages of info with examples and even pictures off old clothes writing and etc. If you want to search a particular year or century you can search that up and it will then offer you all recorded events within that year that century. E.G: if you searched up war from 1900 to 1999 it will present you with all wars from the first date to the last. This is easy to use and simple, its also very useful and convenient. This website is a prime example on how to make a 21 century website that offers many sources of information and simple easy ways to access that info.
